Your Story Is Not Over

Today’s Encouragement: Your Story Is Not Over

If you are walking through a heavy season in life right now, I want to encourage you with all my heart: please do not quit. Do not give up. Do not take your life.

What you are experiencing right now may feel overwhelming, but this season is not the entirety of your story. Seasons change. Circumstances change. Hearts heal. Doors open. Strength returns. Starting over may feel impossible when you are exhausted, ashamed, disappointed, grieving, or afraid, but starting again is not insurmountable, especially when you do not have to do it alone.

Maybe you are carrying the weight of something you did. Maybe you made decisions you deeply regret. Maybe life did not turn out the way you expected. Perhaps you feel as though you disappointed God, yourself, or the people you love. Shame may be telling you to hide. Guilt may be telling you that you have gone too far. Despair may be telling you that nothing will ever change.

Please do not believe those voices.

The Bible tells us, “For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.” — 1 John 3:20 KJV

Even when your own heart condemns you, God is greater than your heart.

Your shame is not greater than His grace.
Your failure is not greater than His mercy.
Your past is not greater than His power.
Your brokenness is not greater than His ability to restore you.

After Adam and Eve sinned, they hid themselves from the presence of God. Shame still tries to make us do the same thing. It tells us, Hide. Run away. God does not want you anymore.

But when you have fallen, Jesus is exactly where you need to run.

Do not allow shame and guilt to prevent you from approaching the One who can forgive you. You do not have to clean yourself up before coming to Him. You do not have to have all the answers. You do not have to figure out your entire life tonight.

Just come.

Run to Jesus.

He is waiting with open arms, ready to forgive, heal, strengthen, restore, reconcile, and help you begin again. There may be consequences you have to walk through. There may be relationships that need healing, decisions that need correcting, apologies that need to be made, or circumstances that will take time to change. But you do not have to walk through any of it without God.

And please remember this: starting over is not the end of your story. Sometimes starting over becomes the beginning of a chapter you never imagined God could write.

Hold on through this season. Give tomorrow an opportunity to be different from today. Reach for safe people who love you and allow them to walk beside you. Do not isolate yourself in your darkest moments.

There is still hope.

There is still purpose.

There is still grace.

There is still a future.

And there is still a God who loves you more deeply than you can comprehend.

Jesus loves you. Run to Him.

A Prayer

Jesus, I pray for the person reading this who feels overwhelmed by life. Meet them in this moment. Silence the voices of shame, guilt, hopelessness, and despair. Remind them that their life still has value and their story is not finished.

Give them strength for today. Surround them with people who will love them, pray with them, listen to them, and help carry them through this season. Where there is shame, pour out grace. Where there is guilt, bring repentance and forgiveness. Where there is brokenness, bring healing. Where there is confusion, bring direction. Where hope has died, breathe life into it again.

Help them not to hide from You, but to run toward You. Let them discover that Your arms are still open and Your mercy is still available.

Give them the courage to stay.

Give them the courage to begin again.

And remind them that even in this heavy season, You are still God, You are still good, and You are still writing their story.
