Passive Aggressive Behavior

I have dealt with many passive-aggressive individuals in my lifetime. However, since the pandemic, there seems to be an increase in this kind of behavior, especially in digital communication mediums such as texting and private messaging. If passive-aggressive is your default communication style, ask yourself why and get to the root of it.  For example, do you feel muted, fearful, or intimidated, by the position, title, aggression, and/or assertions of those you are communicating with? If so, don’t be. Let me throw this in here as well; people will label you and call you everything but the child of God, when they can no longer manipulate and control your mind, thoughts, and action; discern the difference and own your space in the world!

Know this, you are enough, you are loved, you are a unique individual, you are valuable, your opinion matters, your voice matters, you were created for a purpose, you have a purpose, you were not created to be manipulated, used and abuse! Having a voice or an opinion in the right space and time (discern the difference) is not rebellious or out of order. There are those that endorse to this type thinking, but that’s their own character flaw, not yours.  Most of the time it is self-serving and ego-building for them. So, before responding take time to own your voice, calm your soul, trust your instinct, speak kindly, respectfully, wisely, truthfully, and directly to those you are communicating with.

The Bible tells us not to fear man. Here are few scriptures to help you on your  journey.

1)Proverbs 29:25 : The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. 2)Hebrews 13:6 : So, we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” 4) Deuteronomy 31:6 : Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” 5) Isaiah 41:10 : Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Listen up, the real deal is, passive-aggressiveness leads to mental, emotional, physical stress for you and those you communicate with. So, do the work to change it, as it is a very unhealthy way to communicate and live your life.

Love, Peace, and Blessings!
