Anchored Hope

Is your anchor secured? With everything happening around us, we may find it challenging to find a secure place in people, work, careers, and in things we're used to; everyone and everything has shifted in our world. WE ARE IN A PANDEMIC! Over the past several months, we have witnessed the destruction called COVID-19, many lives lost, and many families and friends left devastated by COVID. Many of us are plagued with the paralyzing fear of contracting it and often wonder if we did what our fate would be? Then let's add the social injustice coupled with the lack of empathy and compassion from our social media "friends," it's a lot!

In the meantime, life is going on as usual. Problems in marriages, health, bills, work, and family still exist. We have been quarantined, but life has not slowed down; we are just isolated with more problems. This environment is ripe for depression, increased mental anguish, and debilitating hopelessness. So, we ask ourselves questions such as, who can I trust? Who can I genuinely turn to? Who is truly genuine?  What's real? When will this be over? Will it ever end? Most often, we are left with more questions than answers. As a result, we MUST turn to the Word of God to find real solutions for our real-world experiences. I invite you to take this brief journey with me to a place where I find authentic, consistent, unchanging, anchored hope-The WORD of GOD. The Bible tells us: "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

"Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love." Romans 5:1-5 NLT

There is a lot of noise around us right now, and If our hope is not anchored in Jesus, the potential of getting swept away by it all is very real. So often, we put our hope in people, assuming that they care or even like us, and when their actions prove otherwise, it destabilizes our world. Yes, we hurt, we fail and disappoint each other it's part of life's journey; Jesus never promised us that life would be easy, fair, or always work in our favor.  However, there is a hope that does not disappoint or waver. We have an immovable anchor and a bright future that awaits each of us if we continue to take refuge in the loving arms of Jesus Christ.

Finally,  I encourage you to take the advice of your GPS, reroute, recalibrate, and realign your hope in Jesus Christ, and in things eternal. Love GOD, love people, and don't allow the darkness around you to take residence in your spirit. Choose to forgive and let go. Choose to be compassionate and understanding. Choose to respect the choices of others, even if you don't understand them. Do not try to change people; only God can do that. Remember, you are NOT God; only God can remedy the problems of this world. Trust Him to do what's best in every situation. Choose to let people be. Stay out of the future; we often go there without Jesus, which leads to increased anxiety. Walkthrough each moment with the love and grace of God regardless of what's happening around you; choose to take refuge in the anchored hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. CHOOSE HOPE!

Love and Blessings to you all,
